I was told it is possible to write in english in this forum, so here I go.
As my first topic I was asked to present myself. I am new to Matra, but I have been active in the swedish Citroën club for many years. At present I have six different Citroëns.
And one Bagheera! I was offered to buy one and I could not resist. It is a 1980 red Bagheera X that has been stored in a warm garage for 17 years following an engine breakdown. The chassis and the body is sound as well as the interior. What I need to do is to renovate the engine and probably a lot more.
For the renovation I know I will need some help and advice, and I hope I can get some in this forum!

Welcome Lasse
A Bagheera with a sound chassis is allways difficult to find.
You must be very lucky.
The engine is really something easy with comparison to the chassis.
Do you know what went wrong with it ?

A radiator hose blew and the engine overheated and jammed. I have a complete extra engine from a 1510 -80, which I hope will fit.

hello and welcome!
for us here in germany its really incredible but swedish cars are often without any rust at all. that may depend on the fact that you dont use salt on the roads as we do in winter.
a friend of mine is regularily collecting cars from sweden. so i yet had the pleasure to see a rustless 1974 BMW 518 as a 75 Ford Taunus and Renault 17.
once he gave me a "bilförbandslada" in a paper-box - a real nice item for old cars.
greetz, kris

Can I ask what is a "bilförbandslada" ?
Lasse, I think you may give a try to the old jammed engine.
Some of us have seen engines doing a head gasket and just been repaired with a new gasket, without even planning the head and ... working fine.
Recently I had a jammed engine. I left it open for a month with some diesel in the bores and suddenly it came free.
These engines are much more enduring than we think.
For the 1510 engine, they made it as 1290cc ( too small for you) 1440 cc ( that's the one. Look for a 1510 GL or GLS) or even as 1590 cc

"Bilförbandslåda" is a first aid kit to have in your car. It was often given to you by insurance companies or motoring organizations when you joined.
About salt in Sweden: the further north you come, the less salt is used on the roads. Way up north salt is not used at all, it is to cold for salt to have any effect.
In winter you must have M+S winter tires, most cars have tires with studs/spikes.
I´ll come back about the engine, thanks!

Apparently, you like the cats !
It's a nice one
And the engine next to it : a 2 strokes 3 cylinder ?
I can also provide you a better scan of the Jidehem article for the Bagheera.
I've it ready for scanning since a month.
I'll try to scan all the old Jidehem drawings of Matra's.
Including the René Bonnet DJet who impressed me so much as a kid or also the 650 poster ( 1 meter) but I don't remember where I stored this one

Yes it´s an engine for a Saab 93, also used in Saab Sonett MkII. From 1968 the Saab Sonett had the same V4 engine as the Matra 530. And a glassfiber body very similar to what later would be the Bagheera. This is a 1970 Sonett MkIII:

Welcome in your forum Lasse !
Your Bagheera looks good.
What is the grey car behind ?
The yellow Saab is funny too.

And it is not mine

the XJS - the car with the worst aerodynamic coefficient ever ... CW 0,45 or anything like that ...
the engine is good but please only with fuel injection ... because with 4 stromberg-carbs ... gazoline guzzler par excellence.
did you know that the jaguar V12 with carbs had 2 fuel pumps but no line back to the fuel tank? the fuel that was too much was lead directly on the road - a tube coming from the carbs lead the fuel below the radiator where it was let on the road
