Sujet du message:  ENG: Just found and bought a Bagheera

Hi,
My name is Marcin Marynowski, I'm from Poland. Not more than two weeks ago I've came across a curious car being displayed by a farmer next to His barn. After an internet search I found out that it was a Bagheera and instantly bought it. After a while of fiddling with the electrics it started and I drove it to the warehouse where I work.
I stand now before a big riddle - the previous owner changed the engine, and probably the gearbox - the gear layout is opposite. the rest of the car also needs a total rebuild, so any materials , schemes, data very welcome.
The previous owner called me up and told me that he has a second engine - I'm bringing it in next week.
Official sources speak of about 10 bagheeras being registred in Poland and 3 still running, but I cannot contact any of the owners.
So maybe I'm left with the only working bagheera in my country, maybe anyone will know something about the others....
You can see my Baggy after arriving at my place here:

Thanks a lot for the warm welcome guys!
here's a couple of my problems:
as I mentioned the gearbox is messed up - 1st gear is right and up - engine from another SIMCA?? Also the carburettor has been replaced with a smaller one, but I hope that next week I will have an extra engine - that would sort it out
the dashboard is completely not original - some alfa clocks and a racing wheel,
but I doubt if I could get the originals for less than my monthly salary - So I'll just have to make a custom dashboard ( some nice walnut wood and classic style indicators)
From the serial number I estimated that it's a 1977 bagheera X, what colors did it come in? And have You got a clue on what were the interior options??
I will be rebuilding the interior - it's in bad shape and it's an ugly "potato bag" texture/colour.
On the bright side everything seems to generally work, even electric windows :D

and one final thing: any clue on where could I get a service book?? (real or PDF)

Mmm ! Are you sure that you have the original gearbox.
As i could see, the last owner has changed a lot of things.
Maybe he could have arranged the gearbox.
How many gears do you have on your car ?? 4 or 5 ???

Don't worry, you're not alone.
When i bought my bagheera, it was the same thing.
The last owner thought with only one carburator, the engine would become economical.
In fact, it was ridiculous when you know how it works.
But if you have another engine in a proach future, the problem is over.

If you want to replace your dashboard by an original, you can contact
Bagheera34 on this forum.
This person has many parts of Bagheera for sale.
I suppose he will have what you want.
You can deal with him concerning the price and the payment but i suppose
it will be not really expensive.

Concerning that, our experts here are Bagheera.be and Aiemac.
Just give us serial number you have on the little plate in the front of the
car, and we give you the exact colored interior you must have.

Oh yes, we have registered all documentation.
For that, you have to contact naze2000, you can ask him all instructions
how to get these precious documents.
Naze is a cool guy, i suppose he will give you password to let you consultate
of what you need.
Cheers.

I just saw the archive , NAZE 2000 gave ma the pass.
I must say I'm most impressed! The service books are in french ,but even the pictures and diagrams alone will help a lot.
I found a polish article about my car, I can upload it - but I doubt if it's of any use for You.
Anyway, I'm a big step ahead with the service book!

merci!

Hi Marcin,
You look really enthousiastic on the pictures :)
A couple of years ago, I've been in touch with another Polish Bagheera owner. A serie 1.
I'll see if I can find back some contact informations.

Regards

Hi!
How could I not look enthousiastic! I drive a 1981 ford escort - and now I bought such a beauty!!!
I found a little plate on the feder and took a picture - but I think that my bagheera consists of at least two. Thats because the number on the body is different. Maybe You guys can tell me something about it.
the number on the body is X 6550 6X54653
and here's the plate:

Probably ! It's a typical thing for a complete restoration to buy two cars
and take parts from one to another.
Concerning both numbers, bagheera.be will tell you more informations
than me. I haven't got his experience yet, but i'm on my way !!!!
