Bonjour :) I didn't realise my account was activated. I was waiting on a mail that just wasn't gona come
I'm Bob from Dublin and I've been a Matra Simca Bagheera Fan for the last 20 years ( I'm only 28 ). When I was 7 my father had a Red Bagheera Series 2 for one weekend and I fell in love. He worked in a Garage. I've always been big into Cars. At the time he also had a Bburago 1:24 Bagheera which we all know is a Series 1 and I remember comparing the model to the real Bagh outside my house and noticing the differences in the bumpers and back lights. The car couldn't have been more than 10 years old, maybe younger. It was beautiful. I remember the interior was a beige colour velour. It was probably a '78 or '79 Series 2.
Anywho, I never forgot that car and since I've been old enough to drive I've told myself I'm gona buy one. About 5 years ago I nearly did. It was an early Green Series 2. It had the Series 1 interior still so I'd say it was a '77. But it was in a bad way. Not running. Bits of the fiber glass gone. really dirty, so I left it. I thought i'd be in way over my head with it. As there is very few Bagheeras in Ireland I never saw another one since that one. Earlier this year I Bid on a lovely Yellow Series 1 on eBay.fr but I was well out-bid. The car sold for ?6000 in the end.

Ok so now I have bought one but don't laugh when I tell you which one. It's one of the latest 'Bagheera Horror Picture Show' cars. The black "Abarth" one. I know it's a bit of a mess but it was cheap and I plan to restore it to it's original condition. I will eventually need back lights, a full Series 1 interior and an original front end with all lights. Not gona be easy to find. But for ?1200 I had to. Now I own a Bagheera and I'm over the moon :D I'm collecting the car on Sunday from Leeds and I'll be driving it 160 miles to the boat. Wish me luck :?

Oui, c'est mon Bagheera.
Il sera le mien dimanche.

I knew when I first saw it that there was never an Abarth Bagheera. I think I'll paint it Yellow with Green/Black interior when I get all of the parts I need. I bought it cause it was cheap and there are very few Bagheeras in Ireland. I like to drive cars that no one else drives. I also drive an Opel Kadett Cabrio and I have a 1978 Opel Kadett Coupe. I am an Opel Fan but I've been a Bagheera Fan for longer :)

Hi Bob,
Welcome to the forum :D
As I said in the other post I have not been on Irealnd for quite some time but the roads I remember had lots of sharp bends, absolutely ideal for the Bagheera :D
Have a safe trip home with your find.
Regards,

Stig

Hi Bob,
Welcome to the forum :D

Hi Stig, Thanks for the welcome. Ireland has changed quite a lot since 1990. At the moment there is a lot of money being spent on the Roads over here. We really needed it. But Dublin is still a nice place. It's an expensive place too :? The whole of Ireland is nice and there's still lots of bendy road left over here :D And I've heard there's nothing like an Irish Guinness but I don't Drink Alcohol so I wouldn't know :D I'm a very rear person in Ireland :D Just like my cars 8)

Here it is Guys.
Pop-up lights are gone! I want them back.

Opel Manta 'A' back lights. No way! Side Skirts are horible. The Matramu Wheels look ok. I like the Exhaust thought :)

Inside looks nice but is Series 2 and I much rather Series 1.

Here's the only rust on the car. The left side sill needs welding. The rest of the chassis is painted Red ???

I'm worried that this rust may have spread upwards. Shaun (the current owner) says it hasn't.

So what you think Guys? Am I in trouble? :?

she was already restored, maybe several times , the floors were changed beacause it misses the grooves... you will have to surely change bottoms of case, as on any series 1 :smt102 ... I will change it tomorrow on my orange bagh .

I collected my Bagheera today :) The pics I saw of the car before actually seeing the car didn't do it any justice. It really is Gorgeous. My plans for it will still go ahead but I really loved the way she looked today. It started to rain on the way home and I lost a wiper arm :? We were on a Motorway at the time so I couldn't go back and get it  As you can see from the pic the wiper arm is still in the UK somewhere, but my Bagheera is in Dublin now :D

Also my brother was driving it home as he is insured to do so (I'm not) and he couldn't find 3rd gear at all the whole way back. When I drove it I couldn't find 3rd or 4th gear. I think there's a problem with the Gear Linkage.
