Hi there.
This is my first post to the Bagheera Cafe. Great site and some unbelievably good restoration work.
I had a couple of Bagheeras (and a couple of Ranchos) in the 1980s and bought a murena about a year ago which is currently undergoing a restoration.
I still have a complete set of body panels for a 1979 series 2 Bagheera X which are taking up space in my father-in-law's barn. So if anyone needs anything let me know. Unfortunately my location would make collection difficult but I do occasionally drive to England.
Cheers.

David

Is it true that there were only 12 RHD Bagheeras made?

As far as I know 70 factory approved conversions were made. I think the company was called Hodec but my memory is not what it was! There were other conversions but they were not so well done. Things like the driver's seat mechanism were not reversed.
Unfortunately my white Bagheera ended up on ebay last year looking in a sorry state. It went for a couple of hundred pounds. :-(

I was tempted but the thought of re-doing the welding that I had done over 10 years before was too painful :crybaby:

I knew 12 couldn't be right. I've seen a few of them on eBay in the past and every one would say, "beleived to be 1 of 12 RHD's made". If I ever get another, better Bagheera for myself I'd like to do a RHD conversion on my Black one for my Girlfriend. She likes Bagheeras but she wouldn't drive LHD.

A Murena would probably change here mind about LHD though cause she really likes them.

This abandonned Bagheera Courrège RHD was for sale on ebay
last year somewhere in England.

Only 380 Bagh Courrèges were built (1st serie).
We are not sure, but this RHD modèle could be the only one !!!
Even Aiemac (Mr Bagh Courrèges for France) ignored that a RHD could

exist !!!

It was only the Series 2 that the factory approved a rhd conversion but it doesn't look too difficult especially if you can can source a rhd dashboard.
The steering rack is a standard Talbot one and the gear linkage is rose jointed across from the original gear lever (cut short) inside the cabin!
Even the master cylinder and servo are left where they are.
I suspect that Courrege uses series 2 bits.

I am pretty sure that the UK Matra Enthusiast Club would be able to help source the bits to do a lhd to rhd conversion. Just make sure that the seats are correct. I got caught out whan I bought second hand seats for re-trimming - swapped them for my old ones after driving to pick them up on the mainland - only to discover that my nice re-trimmed seats were from a bodged rhd conversion rather than a proper factory one....
